CNC Machining Services and Manual Milling & Turning

Rhode Island based Derecktor Design provides CNC milling and CNC turning services to customers throughout Southeast New England and beyond. We also offer manual milling and turning services.

CNC Milling Machines

Our Rhode Island facility is equipped with a 2019 5-axis CNC mill and two late-model 3-axis CNC mills, each with a work area of 50” x20” x20”.  All of our CNC machines are high accuracy late-model units capable of tolerances of tolerances of +/-.0005” .

Our CNC milling machines provide the capabilities you need for a range of jobs.

  • 3-axis CNC mills support jobs from custom one-off components to production runs of 5000+ parts, and in all varieties of metal and plastic.
  • 5-axis CNC mills are used with components that have multiple sides or complex geometries. This saves time and money compared to traditional 3-axis work.
  • All of our machines are late-model units with high accuracy. Each CNC machine includes Reinshaw problem for fast and accurate locating and in-process inspection.

As a full-service manufacturer and fabricator, Derecktor Design offers full part inspection, coating and painting, and packaging and shipping through our partner network. Our CNC milling customers can also leverage our on-site waterjet, turning, and welding services.

CNC Turning CNC Lathe

In addition to CNC milling, Derecktor Design provides CNC turning services. Our Rhode Island facility is equipped with a 2018 Haas TL-2 CNC lathe with a working envelope of 10” x 48” with a 2.3” spindle bore.

Examples of the parts that we produce with CNC turning include:

  • Nozzles
  • Pins
  • Bow spirits
  • Bushings
  • Shafts

CNC turned parts range in diameter from 0.1” to 8”, and in length from 0.1” to 12′. Customers who need secondary operations can also count on Derecktor for painting and coating through our partner network.

Manual Milling and Turning

In addition to CNC milling and CNC turning, Derecktor provides manual milling services to customers in Southeast New England and beyond. Our Rhode Island facility is equipped with a:

  • Brideport manual mill for cutting, drilling and boring operations on flat surfaces.
  • Southbend manual lathe for parts turning.

Typically, manual milling and turning are used to support Derecktor’s other offerings, such as CNC machining and metal fabrication, rather than as a stand-alone service.

  • Manual milling and turning are used mainly for small, quick modifications to one-off or custom parts where developing a CNC program isn’t warranted.
  • We use these services on a case-by-case basis, and depending on the availability of other machines, the time required, and the degree of difficulty for the work.
