Waterjet Cutting Services

Derecktor Design provides waterjet cutting services to customers throughout Southeast New England and beyond. Our Rhode Island facility is equipped with an Omax 2652 waterjet machine that has a working envelope of 26” x 52”.

Abrasive Waterjet Cutting

Abrasive waterjet cutting mixes a garnet abrasive into a highly pressurized stream of water. There’s no tooling to wait for or pay for, and abrasive waterjet cutting won’t change the molecular structure of metals like laser or flame cutting does.

Omax 2652 Waterjet Cutting

Derecktor Design’s gantry-style machine has a movable abrasive waterjet head and is capable of cutting a wide variety of materials up to  4” thick. Examples include:

  • Harder materials like titanium and stainless steel
  • Softer materials like aluminum and plastics
  • Composites and fiberglass
  • Ceramics, concrete, and glass
  • Thick, soft substrates such as wood

For flat 2D parts without a taper, Omax 2652 waterjet cutting is less expensive than CNC machining. This equipment also helps to control costs because Derecktor Design can make a first pass with our abrasive water jet cutter.
